April 25 Event: Rick Hobbs and the Bridges of the Tacoma Narrows

Posted by wastatelib on April 20, 2007

Mark your calendars for this upcoming Wednesday, April 25, 2007!  Those of you who will be in the Olympia/Tumwater area at lunchtime are invited to hear the co-author of “Spanning Washington,” Richard Hobbs speak about his newest book, “Catastrophe to Triumph: The Bridges of the Tacoma Narrows.”  With the completion of the second Narrows Bridge rapidly approaching, this is sure to be a fascinating talk!  Those of you who won’t be able to join us on Wednesday will have the ability to view the program at a later date through TVW, which is coming to tape the event.   But Rick has also said he will be signing copies of “Catastrophe to Triumph,” so those bridge buffs out there will want to make sure they’re able to join us in person at 12:10 pm on Wednesday the 25th.   See you at the State Library!

Here’s a correction for your text. The second Narrows Bridge was completed in 1950, we’re rapidly approaching the completion of the third Narrows Bridge.
